Service Group

In our ward at church there is a service group. It is held every Monday and anyone is welcome to come. We have done all sorts of things. We have done things for the Hospice center, an Assisted living center, and a few other things. The last couple of months we have been working on making these cute little dresses. They are in sizes 1 through 6. They are reversible and very easy to make. We teamed up with the Baptist church here in Leland to make these dresses for the little girls in Haiti. They have someone who can get these dresses to little orphan girls. We had a goal of making maybe 50 dresses in 6 weeks. We ended up making 121 dresses. We also took up a collection of little girl panties as well and we got about 170 pairs. It's just such a wonderful thing that we are helping these little girls.

This is a blanket we made from the scrap fabric from the dresses. We have made 3 blankets so far. We are going to be donating these blankets a homeless shelter here in Wilmington. We have also made 3 other blankets called Ugly Quilts that we are donating as well. This is our next project. We are making little shorts for the boys in Haiti. We haven't started making them yet, but I am sure that we can do just as great of job on the shorts as we did on the dresses. The good thing about these projects is that we haven't had to buy any material or batting. Everyone that helped and even those who couldn't looked in their closets and donated all the materials. It has just been amazing.
